If you are specifically targeting European universities and educational institutions, IELTS is more widely accepted there. Conducted jointly by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, British Council and IDP Education Australia, IELTS is considered slightly more difficult than TOEFL.

Every University has a different set of requirements and its own set of guidelines for giving admissions. In addition to this, candidates also match the other eligibility requirements set by university or educational institutions where they are planning to enroll. However, as per previous trends majority of renowned educational institutes across the world require IELTS total score 7.0 band with section scores of 6.5 band as eligibility criteria. International English language test system. If you are already fluent in English you need not attend coaching classes, you can prepare for the exam on your own. You just need to figure out when to start preparing for IELTS. Also, if money is an important consideration, then self-study is a better option. IELTS exam can be attempted multiple times. No limits. Retake IELTS exam if you fail to score good marks. Thank you.

The differences between the IELTS Academic and the IELTS General are as follows:
1. Use: The IELTS Academic Test is for students who want to apply for higher education or professional work abroad. The IELTS General Training test is for those who want to migrate to other countries for other purposes, such as work.
