The Union Public Service Commissionwill release the Engineering Service Exam Notification 2026 on September 17, 2025. The Commission will provide around 20 days to fill out the IES applications. The last date to fill out the IES 2026 application form is October 7, 2025. Candidates must complete the application process within this deadline to be considered for the exam.
The Commission will conduct the IES 2026 prelims exam on February 8, 2026 as per the exam pattern and rules provided in the official exam pattern.

The candidates should note that as per the feedback of the candidates appeared in the IES prelims 2025 Shift 1 the overall difficulty level is moderate. Maths was scoring and easy. In Biology, questions asked was of class 12 level and easy. Some candidates felt that ethics section was challenging.
Based on the exam's difficulty level, the IES 2025 prelims cutoff is expected to remain high based on the difficulty level of the question paper.
