IIM Eligibility

Yes, even if you come from a financially disadvantaged background, you can still study an MBA at an Indian Institute of Management (IIM). Numerous students from all economic backgrounds are admitted to IIMs with success, and there are various initiatives in place to assist them during their academic journey. IIMs provide a range of merit- and need-based scholarships that can drastically lower tuition. Furthermore, a large number of banks and other financial organisations offer student loans designed especially for MBA programs, frequently with advantageous terms and choices for repayment beginning after graduation. In addition, IIMs adhere to government-mandated reservation guidelines for economically disadvantaged sections (EWS), which may present greater chances for students from less affluent families.

The eligibility criteria for different IIM MDPs vary from program to program and across institutes. IIMs offer a variety of MDPs in regard to industries and functions, targeting different experience levels, so parameters can vary from program to program.
Though the criteria are not very objective, the following are generally considered for eligibility to gain admission to the IIM MDP.

• Educational Qualification: Most of the programs require at least a bachelor's degree from a recognized university/institution. Some may also be particular about the level and nature of the education the participants have accomplished.
• Work experience: A good number of IIM MDPs target professionals with a certain amount of work experience. They could, many times, target the early-career professionals and, sometimes, the mid- and senior-level executives. Work experience could range anywhere between zero to as many years as is deemed necessary in the program.
• Industry and Role: A few MDPs also have industry or role specializations; therefore, rather indirectly, the person needs to be associated with that sector or function to some extent. For example, a program related to health management could expect eligible participants to have had their work in the health field.

IIM Visakhapatnam admission is based on CAT examination percentile obtained by candidates and their performance in Personal Interview. IIM Vishakhapatnam eligibility criteria for PGP/ MBA programme is a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for candidates who belong to SC/ ST/ PwD category) or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Ministry of Education, Government of India (including the Associate Membership Examination (AMICE) of the Institution of Civil Engineers (India) as an equivalent qualification). 

As you meet the minimum qualifying criteria, you are eligible to apply for admission to the PGP/ MBA programme at IIM Visakhapatnam. 

Candidates who wish to take admission to the EMBA programme offered at IIM Visakhapatnam have to meet minimum eligibility requirement. In order to take admission to the EMBA programme, candidates must be an Indian national residing in India only and must have passed a minimum of three year Bachelor's degree examination with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for NC-OBC/ EWS category candidates and 40% for SC/ ST/ PwD) category candidates) and must have a minimum of three years of full-time work experience as of the closing date of the respective application window at an officer/ executive level or higher, as a professional, or as an entrepreneur.
