Candidates who have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects is the basic eligibility for BDes offered at IIT Guwahati. Further, the selection of candidates is based on the scores obtained by them in the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design) followed by a counselling round conducted at the institute.

IIT Guwahati offers three specialisations under the two-year MSc programme with a seat intake of 180. The institute offers the MSc programme in Chemistry, Mathematics & Computing, and Physics with a seat intake of 60 per specialisation. Admission to all these courses is done through a common process. Candidates are selected based on scores of IIT JAM entrance exam, followed by a round of counselling.

Candidates seeking admission in an IIT Guwahati MSc course must have a valid bachelor's degree issued by a recognised university. Admission to the MSc course is based on merit in IIT JAM followed by CCMN counselling. The seat allotment is carried out based on document verification, seat intake, and category of the students, during the counselling. Moreover, the IIT JAM application process is carried out in online mode.

The total tuition fee for M.Tech ranges between INR 60,000 - INR 7.5 lakh. This number is taken from the official sources. It can change. Candidates need to pay the course fee as last step of admission process to confirm admission.

In order to get admission to IIT Guwahati M.Tech course, candidates must apply and appear for GATE entrance exam. The GATE application process for IIT Guwahati admission 2024 has begun. Candidates seeking for appearing in GATE 2024 must apply till Sep 29, 2023. Further, the applications with late fees will remain open till Oct 13, 2023. Candidates can visit the official website of GATE to apply for the exam before passing the deadline. 

The selection criteria for the M.Tech programme offered at IIT Guwahati comprises a valid GATE score followed by COAP counselling. Aspirants with a valid BTech or BE/ MCA/ MSc/ AMIETE degree with 60% aggregate or 6.0 CPI can apply. The GATE application process is carried out online (gate.iitk.ac.in). Applications must be submitted within the due date. The GATE application fee for boys is INR 1,700, INR 850 for girls, and INR 850 for SC/ST/PwD category students.

The total tuition fee for the full-time BTech programme offered at IIT Guwahati is INR 8 lakh. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories are exempted from paying tuition fees. Further, the total course fee will include other components such as one-time admission fee (non-refundable), refundable caution deposits (refundable), annual insurance premium, and other important charges.
