Joint Admission Test for Masters is conducted for 100 marks. 90+ marks is consider to be the highest marks in JAM. The highest marks scored by JAM topper is mentioned below.

  • Biotechnology 88 marks.
  • Physics - 90 marks

IIT JAM total mark is 100. Candidates need to obtain 70+ marks for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). 70+ marks will help to obtain a rank between 1 and 150.

IIT JAM 2026 cutoff for IIT Kharagpur will released after each round of counselling process. Last year, IIT Kharagpur offered admission to Joint M.Sc PhD courses to JAM rank between 11 to 6700. GEN category students had to obtained JAM rank between 11 to 528 for admission.

The expected cutoff for IIT JAM Physics for GEN category will be 15+. The final cutoff will be available after the announcement of the JAM 2026 results. Candidates whose marks in IIT JAM Physics are more than the cutoff can participate in the counselling process.

IIT JAM 2026 pass marks will be released alongwith the exam result. The pass marks for IIT JAM will vary for each subject and category. For the GEN category, pass marks in Biotechnology are expected to be 26+, and for Mathematics 20+.

IIT JAM qualifying cutoff is released along with the exam result. It is the minimum mark required to be eligible for the admission process. While the admission cutoff is released after each round of IIT JAM counselling process. It is the opening and closing rank. Students whose JAM rank is between opening and closing rank are offered seat.

Yes, the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, accepts JAM for admission to Masters programme in Science. Candidates with a valid score in IIT JAM have to apply for admission through IISc Bangalore website.

There are around 3000 seats in postgraduate programs at 23 IITs through IIT JAM. Admission will be based on JAM score. Candidates need to fulfil eligibility requirements (ERs), minimum educational qualifications (MEQs) and any other requirements for admission.
