Yes, you can get admission to IIT Kharagpur with a rank of 200 in the IIT JAM exam if you belong to the General AI category. For this category, the last round cutoff ranged from 100 to 894. Students can take a look below to know which courses can be availed in the last round with the attained rank.

Students do not need to wait until 2028. Students from the 2024–2028 batch can appear for IIT JAM 2027 while in their final year (3rd year). It will make them eligible for admission to MSc Economics in 2027.

No, coding skills are not required during the exam. IIT JAM does not have a dedicated Computer Science test paper. IITs admit students through the standard Mathematics or Mathematical Statistics JAM papers for courses like MSc Computer Science. These exams test pure mathematical logic rather than software coding.

No, the competition has been fluctuating over the past 3 years for the M.Tech CSE programme in the 3rd round for the General AI category. In 2026, the cutoff for this course was 625. In 2025, it was 635. In 2024, it was 620.
Among the OBC AI quota, the cutoff trend has also been fluctuating. In 2026, 2025 and 2024, the same round cutoffs were 585, 597 and 533, respectively.

Your Class 12 marks does not matter for admission at IIT Goa for the MSc courses. For admission at this IIT for the MSc programme, you would need to first have a Bachelors degree with at least 55% marks for the General and OBC categories (50% marks for the SC, ST and PWD categories).
Hence, to gain admission at IIT Goa for the MS courses you have to first complete your UG degree and then register for the IIT JAM and sit in the counselling process. To know the accepted ranks for different categories, click here.
