If a student wants to join the IIT Roorkee BTech or BSc programme, then appearing for JEE Advanced is mandatory. Students have to clear the JEE Advanced cutoff and participate in counselling to get a seat. However, for any non-BTech/ BSc programme, JEE Advanced is not required. Students may submit alternate exams instead.

IIT Roorkee cutoff 2025 was released for admission to the MBA course for various categories. The cutoff was published in the form of opening and closing percentiles. As per the details for the General AI category, the overall percentile required was 95 and 50 percentile was needed for the Quants, VA-RC and DI-LR sections.
Students who clear the final CAT cutoff are then eligible to participate in the WAT, GD or PI rounds for selection to the MBA programme.

No, you cannot apply for B.Des programme at IIT Roorkee even if you have cleared the UCEED Entrance Exam because Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are compulsory subjects in 10+2. But you can apply for B.Des programme at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Indore.

IIT Roorkee doesn't offer PhD in Design course through CEED. It only offers a MDes in Industrial Design. Admission to the M.Des programme will be based on CEED merit rank. The candidate will have to apply directly to the participating college once results are declared.

For admission to IIT Roorkee courses, students must pay various fee components included in the IIT Roorkee fee structure. Some of these components are to be paid once, such as a one-time fee, and some are to be paid semester-wise, such as tuition fees. The total tuition fee to be paid for the MBA course ranges from INR 20,000 to INR 8 lakh. Other than this, students opting for accommodation are required to pay INR 36,000–INR 1.39 lakh as hostel fees.

Utpal Borpujari is a National Award winning filmmaker, film critic &alumnus of IIT Roorkee. He is known for his work in Assamese cinema he directed critically acclaimed film Ishu which won 65th National Award for Best Assamese Film. He was also former journalist.

Ajudhia Nath Khosla was a pioneering Indian civil engineer, Padma Vibhushan recipient & former Vice Chancellor of the University of Roorkee now IIT Roorkee. A 1916 alumnus of the same institution which was named as Thomason College of Civil Engineering, he modernised hydraulic engineering & served as a crucial academic and administrative leader for the institute.
