IIT Roorkee is a government owned public technical university recognised as an Institute of National Importance under the Government of India. It was founded originally in 1847 & later converted into IIT in 2001 it is fully funded & governed by the central government which acts as seventh established IIT.

IIT Roorkee is not considered very expensive relative to private institutions, but it is costly. The course fees of numerous programs fluctuate from INR 1,000 - 10,70,500, depending on the selected course. But it offers great placement opportunities to its students.
