Dear reader,

These schools are great, but LPU also has top-notch M.Tech programs in robotics, power systems, and VLSI design. LPU offers a solid alternative for advanced technical specialisation thanks to its industry-partnered labs and placement cell, which has regularly secured jobs for students in Fortune 500 organizations.

hi,

Scoring high marks in Class 12 alone is not enough to get admission into Indian Institutes of Technology. IITs have a strict admission process—you must qualify JEE Main and then clear JEE Advanced to secure a seat in any B.Tech course, including aerospace engineering. Board marks are only used for eligibility, not selection.

As an alternative, Lovely Professional University allows admission based on Class 12 performance or LPUNEST, without compulsory JEE. It offers aerospace programs, modern labs, and scholarships, making it a practical option for students who did not appear for JEE.

Taking a drop year for IIT JEE is a serious decision, so the choice between individual tuition vs coaching institute should be practical, not emotional.

If you already have very strong basics and just need personal attention, then individual tuition can help in clearing specific doubts. But in most drop-year cases, students need full syllabus revision, proper planning, regular tests, and competition — and that is where a structured coaching setup becomes more useful.

In a coaching institute, you usually get:

  • Fixed schedule (keeps you disciplined for 1 year)
  • Regular tests + analysis (very important for JEE)
  • Exposure to competition
  • Complete

hi,

No, you cannot join IITs through lateral entry after a diploma. Institutes like Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and other Indian Institutes of Technology only admit students into B.Tech (including aeronautical/aerospace) through the regular first-year route via Joint Entrance Examination Advanced, after qualifying Joint Entrance Examination Main. Diploma holders must follow the same process and start from first year—there is no direct 2nd-year entry.

Lovely Professional University offers a flexible pathway for diploma students by allowing lateral entry into B.Tech programs. With industry-oriented curriculum, modern labs, inte

MANIT M.Tech students enjoy a very established campus with many facilities. Newer IITs are still building their labs and dorms, but MANIT has been around for 60 years. This means the libraries are full and the student clubs are very active. You get a mature environment where everything is already well-organised. The green and vast campus in Bhopal offers a great balance of study and relaxation. For many, this stability is better than joining a brand-new institute.

With a JAM 2026 Biotechnology score of 61.67 and AIR 310, here's a realistic picture of your daughter's admission chances:

 IITs

  • Top IITs (Delhi, Bombay, Kharagpur, Madras)
    • Cutoffs usually close around AIR 100–200.
    • At rank 310, admission here is unlikely.
  • Mid-tier IITs (Roorkee, Guwahati, BHU, Hyderabad)
    • Cutoffs often extend to AIR 250–350.
    • Your daughter has a borderline chance in these IITs, especially in M.Sc Biotechnology or interdisciplinary programs.
  • Newer IITs (Indore, Ropar, Mandi, etc.)
    • More realistic at her rank.
    • These institutes sometimes admit up to AIR 400–500 in Biotechnology.

 NITs & Other Institutes

  • NITs (Warangal, D

Yes, COAP is only for M.Tech and PhD admissions at IITs and IISc Bangalore. The portal also updates job offers for some PSUs. Overall, around 23+ IITs participate in GATE COAP counselling every year.
