Step 1: Take any stream in 10+2. Candidates who wish to pursue a career as a librarian can take any stream in 10+2.
Step 2: Take a Bachelor's degree in any discipline. To take up a Bachelor's or master's qualification in Library Science you need to have a Bachelor's qualification in any discipline. This is usually a 3-year course. A one-year course in Bachelor in Library and Information Science and Bachelor of Library Science (BLib/BLISc)which is. This can be taken up after graduation.
Step 3: Take a Master's degree in Library and Information Science. After Graduation with or Bachelor's in Library and Information Science and a Bachelor of Library Science, you can take a Master's degree in Library and Information Science which is of two years duration. MISc (Master of Library and Information Science) can be taken up directly after graduation in any discipline.
Exams to become a government librarian in India: In order to be a qualified librarian the students need to appear for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test UGC NET State Eligibility Test (SET), and State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) exams. Then candidates will be eligible to receive the benefits under the 6th Pay Commission.
