It depends on the number of candidates appeared, and the respective marks of all candidates. It isn't fixed, it varies. You can predict some rank depending upon previous year ranks. But it's never the same.

He has a got a chance for most NITs barring the top ones at Trichy and Surathkal. In 2017, 130 marks in OBC category was enough to get an NIT.

If you're from general category, you will not get any college from this Mains rank and please wait for exact rank as results are still not out. You should explore what other options do you have you can opt for premier private colleges such as VIT, BITS, SRM by giving there respective entrance exam to get a better college. All the best.

They consider JEE rank + boards mark for admission though your % in 10th and 12th should be equal to or greater than 60 percent if your rank is less than 3 Lacs in JEE Mains or less than 50k in UPSEE than you need not to write there entrance exam else yo have to write SUAT. Shortlistes candidates are called for personal interviews, candidates are selected on the basis of 10+2 marks score in JEE Mains or UPSEE and performance in personal interview.

Go to the rank predictor on Shiksha's website and find out your rank. After this, it will easier to predict whether you will get in or not. And it is also dependent on cutoff marks of JEE 2018.
