Devoting one full year for competitive exam preparation has its own merits and demerits. Dropping a year means that you will get sufficient amount of time to prepare for competitive exams. There is no form filling for admission for b tech in KU. All formalities will be done when you will come in college after counselling of JEE main rank.

Dropping an year won't be beneficial for you as you don't qualify the 75% criteria for JEE, so I suggest you should join some good college this year only
