The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is a centralised counselling process for candidates with JEE Main and JEE Advanced ranks.

  • Via JEE Main ranks, candidates get admission to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs.
  • Through the JEE Advanced ranks, candidates are allotted seats in the IITs & IISc Bangalore.

With your rank, you have chances in:

  • IET Lucknow or BIET Jhansi
  • Lower-tier NITs/IIITs or newer GFTIs in CSAB
  • Good core/circuital branches in Amrita University's counselling

Army Institute of Technology does not participate in the standard JoSAA or CSAB center rounds for its BE course. The institute runs its own independent counseling portal to manage applications. Students must track notifications directly on the college website instead of central engineering portals. This separate process handles defense documentation verification much more efficiently.

CSAB cutoffs are usually lower or higher in rank (i.e., less competitive) than JoSAA cutoffs.

No, there is no need to apply separately at VNIT Nagpur after JoSAA counselling. BTech and BArch admissions at all NITs, including VNIT, are centrally managed through JoSAA and CSAB (for vacant seats). Aspirants only have to register for these counselling processes and keep VNIT in their college preferences. If they clear the required cut-off, they are automatically allotted a seat at VNIT Nagpur. To confirm their admission, they must submit the acceptance fee and report to the institute for document verification.

No, if you do not belong to the reserved categories. For this category, students should have scored at least 60% marks in class 12.

For the unreserved categories, it is 75% minimum marks for admission to the IITs, IIITs, NITs and GFTIs. Students should only apply for the JoSAA counselling process if they fulfil the eligibility criteria.
