It depends on the course aspirants has selected. Candidates applying for MBA or MCA programme need to have a valid KMAT score. Karnataka Management Aptitude Test or KMAT is a Home Based Online Remote Proctored Test. For all other courses, merit in the last qualifying exam is considered for admission. Aspirants are further evaluated through a personal interview round.

No, IIM does not accept KMAT test scores for admission. If you want to get admission to the IIM, you will have to appear in the CAT exam. With the score of the KMAT test, you can get admission to various top colleges in the state of Karnataka. You can get admission to the following top management colleges:

- Alliance University
- Indus Business Academy

CMR University has certain eligibility criteria to join for MCA program.
For admissions, candidates are required to have :
- Bachelor's Degree with aleast 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) from a recognised university.
- Studied Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science at the 10+2 level or during graduation.
- A valid score in the Karnataka PGCET or KMAT entrance exam.
Thus, to take admission in the MCA Program at CMR University, taking the KMAT or PGCET entrance is necessary.

KMAT marking scheme differs depending on the exam location.
- KMAT Kerala: +4 for correct, -1 for wrong, no penalty for blank.
- KMAT (Karnataka & Others): +1 for correct, no penalty for wrong or blank.

The official KMAT answer key of every candidate released by the examination authority contains each question and its status which means, the answer marked by the candidate and right answer. If released, KMAT Karnataka answer key will be released on official website of KMAT India. To download KMAT answer key:
- Open the official website
- Login using Application Number and Password
- Click on Anwer Key' section
