Yes, you may get government colleges of UPTU easily. Yes, absolutely. According to as per AICTE norms and UPTU/AKTU/GBTU all the engineering colleges and institutions have to fill some of their seats for lateral entry. All the branches have almost 12 seats for lateral entry, especially talking about the government. Engineering colleges in UPTU it is available in all colleges/institutions. Yes, you can take admission through lateral entry. As you have completed your Polytechnic, you can get admission into the 2nd year of B.Tech.

Yeah sure.
All the diploma holders are eligible for the lateral entry in B.tech. If you have completed diploma then you can get admission in 2nd year of B.tech/B.E with the same course/field/branch as you had in Diploma.

To get admission in B.Tech after the completion of Diploma, you have to appear for the lateral entry exams like- Polytechnic, JELET, etc. Through these lateral entry exam, you can get admission in B.Tech course. So, go for these exams.

It's nice to hear that you want to go to IIM, Kolkata but the eligibility there is graduation. You need to complete your graduation first and then only can get admission there. There is no lateral entry for admission in IIM, Kolkata.
