The University of Lausanne acceptance rate is around 31%. This means that this university is very selective at the time of the admission process. Indian students must have a passed Secondary school for admission to UG courses. For admission to Master's courses of UNIL, an UG degree is required.

As per the top-ranking universities in Switzerland for 2026 by Times Higher rankings, the University of Lausanne ranks at #5 position. Overall, in THE Global rankings, UNIL has been ranked at #125 (Among Top 150 Universities of the world).

In 2026 rankings, the University of Lausanne QS ranking is #212. The previous year's QS ranking of UNIL was #224. This shows that UNIL ranking has improved in the QS rankings. In Times Higher rankings, Lausanne University ranking is #125 in 2026.

Lausanne Uni is a French-speaking university. The main language of this university is French. But some Master's and Bachelor's courses are taught in English. The courses that are taught in English are-

  • UG: Biology, English Literature, and Business and Economics

In terms of rankings, both universities are at par. As per world rankings, ETH Zurich and EFPL both achieve excellent rankings. ETH Zurich is ranked #7 in both the QS World University Rankings and the QS WUR Ranking by Subject. The QS WUR Rankings by Subject place EPFL at #10, whereas the overall world rankings place EPFL at #36. Despite this, degrees in computer Science and information technology are highly recognised at both universities.
