National Law University Assam admission is based on merit and entrance exams. The university accepts the CLAT exam for admission. Aspiring candidates must qualify for the eligibility criteria set by the university for the desired course. National Law University course admission begins through online application.

Students who wish to take admission at LLM in NLU Assam must meet the eligibility requirements. Students must have completed LL.B. Three-year/Five-year Integrated Degree Examination from an accredited university with a minimum score of 55% (or 50% for those in the reserved category). In order to be eligible students must give CLAT-PG exam. Additionally, candidates who meet the requirements must register for the NLUJAA application. The official college website currently has not released any information regarding the placement of LLM. Details regarding the placements of BAs and LLBs are available in the NIRF report. The placement information for the 2023 graduating class is still pending in the official site. On its official website, the institute has, nevertheless, made available the NIRF report for 2023. One BA LLB (Hons) student was placed at NLU Assam placements in 2021, according the NIRF report 2023. Additionally, INR 7.63 LPA was the median package provided to BA LLB students during NLU Assam placements in 2021.
