VELS University follows the reservation guidelines as per government norms. The university reserves a total of 22% of the seats for SC/ST category candidates. For students belonging to the other categories, such as the EWS and PWDs, the university does not have any seat reservation policy. However, it extends its support via scholarships and fee waivers.

Students who have already participated in interstate and interuniversity sports and games competitions are selected under the Sports Quota and are offered free education, including boarding and lodging.
