For M.Sc. at such government universities in India, charging less for fees, the universities take entrance exams. Given below are a few popular entrance examinations for M.Sc. courses at various government institutions:

GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering):

Eligibility: Mostly for M.Sc. in subjects like Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Earth Science.
Exam Info: Conducted by IITs and IISc, The GATE, which is an all-India test, admits aspirants into M.Sc. programs in engineering and technology, as well as in other Science areas.
Fees: Quite nominal, especially when it comes to government institutions.

CUCET (Central universities common entrance test):

Eligibility: For admission to M.Sc. courses at Central universities across India.

DUET (Delhi University Entrance Test):

Fees: Relatively lesser for Indian residents, especially in such government institutions.

JNU Entrance Test: Jawaharlal Nehru University:

Eligibility: For M.Sc. courses offered by JNU.
Test details: candidates must take JNU's separate entrance test specifically for its various M.Sc.-level programs in Science areas such as biotechnology.
Fees: JNU also has very low cost for its postgraduation programs.

BHU PET (Banaras Hindu University Postgraduate Entrance Test):

Eligibility: For admission into MSc courses at Banaras Hindu University.
Exam Details: Admission shall be on the basis of an entrance test conducted by the BHU in various postgraduate courses such as M.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, and Biotechnology.
Fees: BHU has an affordable fee structure, especially in the case of an Indian applicant.
TISS-NET (Tata Institute of Social Sciences National Entrance Testing):

Eligibility: For M.Sc. courses at Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
Exam Details: TISS-NET is an examination for admission into the available M.Sc. programs, specifically within the social sciences and allied areas.
Fees: The fees for TISS courses that are government-funded are comparatively low.
IIT JAM (IIT Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.):

Eligibility: For M.Sc. in many branches of Science at IITs.
Exam details: These are examinations conducted by IITs for admission into the M.Sc.-course in the fields of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biotechnology, etc.
Fees: IITs charges low fees for M.Sc. programs and differs from one IIT to another.
M.Sc. Entrance Test at State Universities:

Many state universities such as University of Mumbai, University of Calcutta, University of Madras conduct their own entrance test for obtaining admission to the M.Sc. program.
Fees: Generally low for state-funded universities.
Most of these are conducted for specialised courses under M.Sc. in Science, Technology, and related fields. Select an exam according to your preferences based on the course and university you are looking at. To keep costs low, aim towards government-funded institutes that offer education at very low costs while keeping a focus on having good reputations in science.

Given below are some of the entrance exams accepted by MSc Colleges in Pune:

• Architecture in CET: Maharashtra Council of Agriculture Education and Research Post-Graduate Common Entrance Test is conducted by Maharashtra Agriculture Universities Examination Board (MAUEB) for admission to PG level courses including MSc,  MTech and DPharma.
• Agricultural Universities (SAUs) in Maharashtra.
• MHT CET: Maharashtra Common Entrance Test is a state-level entrance test conducted by the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell for admission in BTech,  BPharma, and DPharma.
• JEE Advanced: Joint Entrance Exam Advanced is a national-level entrance exam conducted by IITs or IISc Bangalore rotationally under the aegis of Joint Admission Board  (JAB) for admission to UG Courses, Integrated Master’s Degree, Bachelor-Master Dual Degree in Engineering,  Science or Architecture in the IITs.
• NEET: National Eligibility cum Entrance Test  (NEET) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by National Testing Agency  (NTA) for admission to NEET: National5 MSc and BDS
