Germany has two intakes: Winter Semester (October) and Summer Semester (April). For Winter Semester 2026, applications are typically open May–July. The Summer Semester 2026 intake has a November–January deadline. Winter is the main intake with more programs available.

Most English-taught M.Tech programs in Germany require IELTS 6.5 overall with no individual band below 6.0. Alternatively, TOEFL iBT 90+ is accepted. Some universities may waive IELTS if your B.Tech was in English. So, check each university's specific requirements.

It costs around 20 lac for 1 year (all expenses inclusive ) if you are not claiming any scholarships or not eligible for that.

In Germany, it's not M.Tech, it's MS. So, for doing MS, you have to write GRE and IELTS for admission.

You need minimum 80% in UG to get admission. You need IELTS 6.5 overall and minimum 6 in all component. You also need German language certificate.

12 backlogs indicate your academic performance is below average, therefore, chances to get admission in MS in German universities is very poor. With 12 backlogs, it will be difficult to get good recommendation letter from your professors. You may revisit your career strategy.

The eligibility criteria for MS differ in different universities. General eligibility criteria to study it in German University is as follows:
(a) High academics performance or records in undergraduate studies.
(b) If the course is taught in German, then proof of proficiency in the German Language. If the course is taught in English, then proof of proficiency in English by TOEFL or IELTS score.
(c) Some universities require GRE score
(d) With relevant work experience in the field of further study, chances of selection increases
