For M.Tech, GATE is necessary. Otherwise, most of the universities conduct their own entrance exam. Mostly, all the state universities conduct their own entrance exams. You can take AMCAT and E-litmus tests to get a job in the IT industry.

PhD is a very specialized study. I can suggest application of electronics in managing non-conventional power sources viz. solar or wind turbines. Improvement in their efficiency, improvement in transmission, loss reduction are some of the topics that I can suggest.

Your GATE score of last appears way below your capabilities. So, something went wrong during exam? But, forget about that episode. You are now appearing afresh. Take into account your weak areas of last year and if you plug these I am sure this year you will get desired score.

Record of IISc is quite good as far as the placement is concerned. Their training standard is also best amongst all. Facilities are very good. All in all, the institute is good.
