Hello Tanmay,
Maharashtra is among the few states, which does not conduct any entrance examination for giving admission directly into second year of engineering colleges by what is called as the lateral mode of admission. However, the selection of candidates is based on the marks obtained by them in either the Diploma examination conducted by the government of Maharashtra or the B.Sc examination conducted by different universities. Yes, you can get admission through lateral entry by applying for B.Tech lateral entry counseling conducted by states as well as the institutes in June –July.
