Yes, it is compulsory,you are paying mess and hostel fees. Now if you don't want to stay, take permission from authorities, but you have to pay for mess and hostel whether you stay or not.

I am in VIPS, so I can tell how it is.
The exposure here provided is really good. The faculty works hard with the students to let them bag great opportunities. The libraries and other facilities are very beneficial.
Overall, it's really good.

See to get into St. Xavier's for junior college with 85% is a tough move. They have in-house quota, state board quota. Still I would suggest you to apply for it and to some other colleges as well.
