This year's placement stats of every IIT were influenced by the Make in India campaign of the Indian Government and because of this campaign, not only the number of core companies increased but it also embarked enthusiasm for core companies among students. This initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi meant that the institutes give early slots to core companies over non-core ones.
The placement for Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering Department of IIT-Kharagpur increased from 38% in 2015 t0 46% in 2016.

You have to pursue a 4-year BE/B.Tech Marine engineering course on the completion of which you qualify to become a fifth engineering onboard a merchant ship. You can also become a fifth engineer after completing a one-year graduate mechanical engineering course prior to which you should have completed BE/B.Tech in mechanical engineering. Hi Aman, yes you can opt for a MS in Complete Sc , universities in USA are flexible regarding course choice however since you come from a different backgrounds additional information must be given by you to the University, you must demonstrate your interest and adequate knowledge in computer science, answer questions like why computer science etc. Prepare well for the GRE .TOEFL too would be required.

Tolani Maritime Institute is better any day. Since, Tolani gives you 100% placement as well as they give you better practical knowledge than any other marine college. Faculties in Tolani are either chief engineers or captains. It is ranked as number one college of marine in India. Tolani has very good reputation in Industry. Companies prefer Tolani cadets over any other.
