IMU is a central government sponsored institution. It offers degrees in marine as well as many other related topics. Admission is easy, if you have studied well for their entrance exam.

Every branch has their own importance. If you want to become a software engineer, then you can go for CSE or IT branch. Whereas, if you want to pursue aeronautics, then you can go for aeronautical engineering.

IMU is a government agency imparting in marine engineering and allied subjects & awards degrees. On the other hand KLMEE is an institution that conducts entrance exam for admission to different colleges approved by DG Shipping. Thus, you cannot compare these two.

Your state government has a department of tech education. They will have a list of all institutions who are permitted to offer diploma in marine engineering. This will be an authentic list. Once you know this, then you can decide as to where you want to do your diploma.
