Hi,
Candidates wishing to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy need to complete their B.Sc degree in mechanical or marine engineering, before they can gain admission to the field. In some cases, students who have completed their 12th with PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) are eligible to join as Deck Cadets.
Navigating Officers - Candidates will need to obtain a Certificate of Competency, as per the regulations in India relating to the examinations of Masters and Mates. Conducted by the Ministry of Surface Transport, in association with the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) Mumbai, the examinations help determine the promotion prospects for the officers.
You need to go through a three year training in Nautical Science (B.Sc.) and then complete a year's duration of practical training in the deck department of a merchant ship. Selection is based on the Joint Entrance Examination given by the IIT. A merit list is prepared after the written test and interview are completed and the Director General of Shipping has the authority to choose which of the 2 training programs the candidate is best suited for (students can let their preference be known). Both the T.S. Chanakya and MERI institutions do help (under no Government obligations) in recruiting their graduates in suitable Indian Shipping Companies.
As far as remuneration and other benefits are concerned Merchant Navy is one of the few careers where the salary is relatively high. The pay is definitely different from company to company, depending on the city, country, export and import needs, seniority, etc.

B.tech /BE in in Marine Engineering /Nautical science are the Basic qualification to become a Marine Engineer.
Eligibility:
Educational qualification:-
1.The candidate must be completed the +2 or any equivalent with at least 60% marks in physics,chemistry,math (PCM) and 50% marks in English either class 10th/12th.
2.Both Male and Female candidates are apply for this course.
3.Only Unmarried candidates are considered .
4.The maximum age limit is less than 25 years as on the 1st August.
These are the basic eligibility criteria to join Marine Engineering.

Marine engineering is a division of engineering that deals with the nautical architecture and science. Marine engineering basically is meant for research conducted in oceans and coastal or inland waters connected to the sea.
There are a number of job opportunities for marine engineers in India as well as in abroad. Some of the institutions like International Maritime Academy recruit marine engineers to the post of junior engineers in merchant ships. Once a candidate has successfully completed a required period of service as junior engineer, he/she is allowed to write competency exams by which they get promoted to the post of chief engineer. That is within a period of 5 or 6 years from the time of completion of graduation, a candidate can be in the post of chief engineer and hence can get an attractive pay scale. Admission to most of the institutes is done via entrance exams. The basic eligibility for pursuing a Bachelors is 10+2 examination with science subject such as Physics, maths and chemistry. For IITs, It is mandatory to qualify in the Joint Entrance Examinations (J.E.E). The duration for this course is 4 years.

As directed by the DG of shipping, it is mandatory for a student to secure at least 60 in physics and mathematics at the plus two level in order to be eligible to secure admission in marine engineering, assuming you've secured the aforementioned marks you can always go ahead with marine engineering, And as far as your weakness in the subject is concerned, you may try and put in your best effort with proper guidance in mathematics and though slowly but steadily you'll eventually manage to score the subject well, because mathematics is all about understanding the concepts well, and if once those concepts are clear there's no stopping you.
