This question needs two submissions from the student's side:
1. what are the academic or educational credentials of the person?
2. Based on what skills, expertise, experience and appearance does the aspiring video jockey wants to claim the job?
Answer by assuming that the person is having some substantial education like graduation or something which makes him or her a literate person. I shall not recommend the observation that even an illiterate person can become an VJ. If by higher studies you mean Post Graduation then you may opt for job opportunities. If you mean stone certificate course or a Diploma just after school then you should think of higher studies to do a specialisation course.

To be honest, there are many things you've to keep in mind. If you're applying for St. Xavier's College, then you need to know the Eligibility criteria. Then comes the second one - The admission test. For the admission test, you need to prepare it , thoroughly (if you are serious about it). All together, they ask you five theory questions. So you'll have to think and write the answer then and there. Each answer has to be in 300-400 words. But, I would ask you to check the previous year's question papers, so that you get an idea of it.

If you are looking for a PG Diploma or short term course, you can opt for Bhartiya Vidhya Bhawan or IMSIT, YMCA. Also, you can try for GGSIPU for MJMC and Jamia for a Master Degree. But, if you want to build a serious career then you must try for IIMC.

Mass Media is a single subject.
You can opt by applying to GGSIPU CET, BA Journalism from DU, or from Bhartiya Vidhya Peeth.
There are many private universities that are providing degree in Mass Media or Mass Communications. You can check Mass Com on Shiksha.com.

The entrance exam's date is not out yet but generally it happens in the month of June. The application process starts from April and is open till the month of May. Admission for BA in Journalism from DU is done on merit basis and admission for BJMC in IPU is done on the basis of Common Entrance Tests which you have to qualify and once you qualify the same, it will further lead to counselling in which you will select your college/institute on the basis of credit scored. Forms will be available from last week of January or mid-February. BA in Journalism is offered at Maharaja Agarsen College located in Mayur Vihar which is affiliated to Delhi University and I must say they do a nice job in creating journalists.
