Only way you can deal with common mistakes is with lots of practice before hand. If you develop a sense of familiarity during the main exam, you will only have to focus on the questions before you instead of any other behavioral trait leading to mistakes. Follow some points. Don't stress out. If you feel the paper is way too tough or way too easy for what you have practiced, don't worry about it. The general trend will be the same and so your score will be normalized accordingly. Just keep attempting as many as you can. If you keep this in mind while taking the exam, you won't stress out and hence you won't commit silly mistakes. It is important that you practice lot of mocks and papers before the main exam. This will give you confidence and sense of familiarity during the paper. Practicing will also give you the mistakes that you keep committing every now and then.
