MBA Entrance Exam

There are no straight forward vocabulary questions in CAT. Out of the total of 24 questions in VARC section, 12-14 questions are Reading Comprehension based and rest of them comprise parajumbles, para completion and odd sentence. CAT is the only MBA entrance exam, which does not have direct vocabulary and grammar questions. However, one needs to have strong vocabulary and grammar to be able to solve RC, parajumble, para completion and odd sentence questions.

In 2023, the competition has reached very high in terms of cutoffs released. The cutoffs had shown a whooping increase over the years and set a bar for the candidates to put a lot of effort. With a mere 90 percentile, candidates won't be able to get admission in DU, they must need to acquire a minimum cutoff of 98 to secure a seat at Delhi University.

The Delhi School of Communication accepts numerous entrance level exams focused on management, such as CAT (Common Admission Test), ATMA (AIMS Test for Management Admissions), and MAT (Management Admission Test). DSC also makes it mandatory for the candidates applying to the PGDPC course to appear for the psychological test and the personality interview.

The Delhi School of Communication accepts the AIMS Test for Management Admission for the PGDPC course, which is a two-year full-time course related to management. Candidates can use the scores of other entrance exams such as CAT and MAT as well to apply for the PGDPC course at Delhi School of Communication. For admission to the MBA course at ICFAI University, Himachal Pradesh, students need to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria in the first place. The selection criteria for this course are entrance-based and candidates must pass graduation from any recognised state/national board with a minimum 50% aggregate. Candidates who have not completed graduation are not eligible for admission.

MAT RC passages are easier than CAT RC passages. They are shorter in length and easy to understand. Candidates preparing for MAT, must practice MAT RC passages in good number as even though the passages are short, one will still need speed to read them in a limited time and note down the important points for answering the related questions.

MAT exam usually has 4 Reading Comprehension passages in MAT exam. The passages are easy to read and have questions with direct answers. They belong to Economy, Environment, Science & Technology, Culture, Society, Business & Management, Current Affairs, History, Philosophy and Abstract topics.

The difficulty level of MAT IBT, CBT and PBT is same – easy to moderate. Even though the set of questions are different in each test form, the examination authority maintains same difficulty level, so that no candidate has any advantage or disadvantage over others due to difference in exam mode. Thus, scoring better in MAT IBT, CBT or PBT totally depends on candidate's preparation and ability to optimize their score by choosing the right questions in the exam.

Past CMAT cutoffs 

2023: CMAT cutoff was 1500, with an 80 percentile score in CAT and a 75 percentile score in MAT

2022: CMAT cutoff was 1600, with a 75 percentile score in XAT
