Yes sectional cutoff is considered from CAT. It is 70 percentile in each of the three sections.

CMAT is a online computer based test conducted by AICTE India. It is a national level test for facilitating institutions to select suitable students for admissions in all management programmes approved by AICTE.
The question paper comprises four sections:
Quantitative techniques
Logical reasoning
Language comprehensive
General awareness, each section carries 25 marks.
Registration started on 10 october, it will close by 15 December, and exam is on 26 January 2017.

Why don't you apply for IIM in Delhi, Indore, Vishakhapatnam or Chennai? I am sure you will get through if you don't want to then just try in some other institutes in Bangalore or Chennai.

The exam syllabus includes 10% quantitative aptitude, 10% logical reasoning, variable analysis, data sufficiency, integration, etc.

It is better to start now as you have a lot of time. So, start preparing and catch some of the language and aptitude classes if you can and practice well.

You can take up some crash courses like CAT Cracker and some other aptitude classes and prepare well, you can easily crack it.
