Both PGDM and MBA are similar degrees. Do not go by name of degree but by name, reputation & records of institute offering PGDM or MBA.

Most of the good colleges require CAT for MBA. only low ranking colleges admit students without CAT and it is not a good idea. I understand you have no time for CAT now, but you can go for GMAT exam. it is far more expensive but you can appear for this exam anytime you want and it is now being expec

If you are from Karnataka then you need to appear for the test of PG level.
