The total number of MBA seats at NIST is 120. These seats are filled based on the applicants' performance in the accepted entrance exams. These exams are OJEE (followed by OJEE counselling), CAT, MAT and XAT. NIST MBA degree holders can pursue various jobs in government departments and organisations. Such students can apply for various government exam, leading to jobs in renowned organisations, such as RBI, SBI, NMDC, and others. Some profiles that students can pursue after completion of an MBA degree at NIST are listed below:

• Indian Railways Management Service (IRMS)
• Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Grade B Officer
• Central Excise and Customs Inspector (C&CE)
• Security and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Grade A Officer
• Probationary Officer/Manager in Banks
• Quality Assurance Manager

NIST MBA is a two-year programme offered in dual specialisation. There are various MBA specialisations available at the institute. Students must choose any two of the following NIST MBA specialisations:

• Marketing
• Finance
• Human Resources
• Business Analytics
• Production and Operations

NIST MBA admission is entrance-based. Admission is provided to the applicants who have a valid score in one of the accepted entrance exams. These exams include OJEE, MAT, CAT and XAT. Aspirants must apply and appear for one of these exams. Additionally, they submit the NIST application form for MBA admission. 70% of the total seats are filled through OJEE counselling. 15% of the total seats are filled through other accepted exams. Shortlisted candidates must report at the NIST campus for document verification. After document verification, candidates must confirm their admission by submitting the specifed MBA fees.

MBA covers a much broader syllabus than MA HRM. But, if you want something to do right now instead of waiting, you can do MA now, work as an HR, and later you can do executive MBA with work.

NIST accepts MBA admissions through OJEE counselling. But OJEE is not the only entrance exam accepted for MBA admissions at the institute. 75% of the total MBA seats are filled through the OJEE counselling. 15% of the total seats are filled through other accepted exams, namely CAT, MAT and XAT. Hence, candidates without an OJEE score can still get admission to the institute's MBA programme, provided they have a valid exam score of any other accepted entrance exam.
