To be eligible for admission to the MBA course at Vardhman Mahaveer Open University, one must have either a Bachelor's degree with a minimum TDC or its equivalent and a minimum of 50% aggregate. For some courses, candidates need to have a master's degree from or a Bachelor's degree with TDC or its equivalent along with a three-year professional experience in a managerial, supervisory, or professional capacity. A professional degree in streams such as Technology, Engineering, Architecture, Medicine, Law, or a professional qualification in Cost and Work Accountancy, or Company Secretaryship. Vardhman Mahaveer Open University accepts the Management Entrance Test MET organised by VMOU or a recognised test such as MAT/ CMAT/ CAT. A proper VMOU MET application process 2023 must be followed for a successful admission.

Established in 1987 by the act of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, Vardhman Mahaveer Open University was earlier known as Kota Open University. The university is approved by UGC (University Grants Commission), DEB, AIU (Association of Indian Universities), and NCTE.
