No, it is not mandatory to carry the NEET exam city slip document to the exam centre. The NEET admit card is the mandatory document which has to be carried to the exam centre and the information printed on it will be verified with the admit card. Hence, the NEET admit card is a mandatory document, but the significance of the NEET city intimation slip is limited till the time the admit card is released.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) releases the NEET admit card three to four days before the exam date. This trend is followed for the past few years, ever since the launch of the exam city intimation slip. The release of the NEET admit card is made a few days in advance to avoid malpractices or instances of impersonation or cheating. Since the NEET admit card is a crucial document and carries the name of the exam centre, it may increase the chances of seucurity breach. Instead, NTA releases the NEET exam advance city intimation slip carrying the name of the city where the exam centre will be located, for the candidates' convenience.&n

There can be multiple reasons why the document is not generated, which are listed below:

  • Technical glitches: At times, due to server error, the NEET admit card may not be uploaded, or getting delayed in being uploaded or displayed on the website.
  • Incomplete paymenet of application fee: At times, even if the NEET application fee amount gets deducted, the fee may not have been credited to NTA, leading to incomplete application process. In such cases, the admit card is not generated.
  • Non-fulfilment of eligibility: If a candidate does not fulfill the eligibility criteria such as minimum age limit, or educational background, NT

While the NEET admit card is generally released three to four days before the exam date, the document is available for download till the NEET result is declared. The NEET admit card download tab is generally active till the exam result is declared. Candidates must preserve both the soft and hard copies of the admit card of NEET till the admission process is conducted. Otherwise, even if candidates login to the NEET website with their credentials, they will not find the admit card download tab.
