A Doctor of Medicine degree represents a higher post-graduate degree for specialty training. Only medical graduates with Bachelor of Medicine, and Bachelor of Surgery degrees are eligible to pursue a Doctor of Medicine degree. Only medical graduates with Bachelor of Medicine, and Bachelor of Surgery degrees are only eligible to pursue a Doctor of Medicine degree.

After completing a three-year study and the respective exam, both practical and theoretical a student would be conferred with a Doctor of Medicine degree. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree courses include Applied Medical Biochemistry, Applied Pharmacology, Human Anatomy, Human Physiology Human Microbiology, Otolaryngology, Human Pathology, Dermatology, Pediatrics, and General Surgery.

Whereas the student completes a Doctor of Medicine after the Bachelor of Medicine, and Bachelor of Surgery to obtain training in a specialisation of choice. Doctor of Medicine specializations includes ophthalmology, pediatrics, gynecology, obstetrics, dentistry, and the like.
