MITID DAT exam is conducted in both online and offline modes. Phase 1 of MITID DAT is held in online mode as a computer-based test and Phase-2 of the exam is to be attempted on a sheet provided inside the exam hall.

The candidate has to follow the official pattern when preparing for the exam. This will imrpove their chances of doing well in MITID DAT.

DAT examination includes computer-based MCQ (objective) test, subjective test and offline drawing test. Objective and Descriptive Test is a Computer Based Test. Where in Objective Test candidates have to choose the correct option, in Descriptive Test they have to write the correct answer in the text box. Drawing Exam is an Offline Test. For this section candidates are provided A4 size drawing sheets to draw using Pens / Pencils / Colours etc. After the exam is over, the answer sheets are collected, scanned and uploaded for evaluation at the test centre.

Candidates are shortlisted for the Studio Test and Personal Interview based on their performance in the MIT DAT entrance test. The Studio Test and Personal Interview is the 2nd stage of the two-stage MITID DAT admission process. The 1st stage is the online written exam.

The Studio Test and Personal Interview for the M.Des programs was conducted in May. The Studio Test and Personal Interview for the B.Des programs were also held in May.

It is mandatory for candidates to appear in all the stages of the MITID DAT exam. This means, candidates who have qualified the written exam but doesn't appear in the Studio Test and Interview, he or she will not be included in the final results.

The admission to design courses will be based on the final merit list which will be prepared by considering the peformance of the candidate in:

  1. MITID DAT entrance exam
  2. Studio Test and Personal Interview

It is mandatory for candidates to appear in all the stages of the entrance exam. If the candidate misses out on any stage, he or she will be disqualified.

The results of MITID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) were announced on April 23 (5 pm). Scores were declared for all candidates who had appeared in all the stages of MITID DAT exam. The candidate can check their results using their login credentials.

Admit cards for MITID DAT 2026 exam was released in first week of April 2026. To download it, candidate had to enter their credentials. Admit card will have details like date and time of exam, reporting time and exam-day guidelines.

The application form for MITID DAT 2026 exam is currently OPEN. The application has to be submitted in online mode only.

The last date to fill out the MITID DAT application form was February 28, 2026.

The Design Entrance Test (DET) 2026, for admission to the B.Des and M.Des courses at the MIT Institute of Design, was conducted on April 05, 2026.

The entrance exam included a Design Aptitude Test and is the 1st stage of the two-stage admission process. Candidates who qualified in the DAT exam had to next appear in a Studio Test & Personal Interview.
