NID Entrance Exam

On August 3, 2023, the conducting authority published the NID DAT Cut Off 2023 on its official website. The percentile of most recent applicants accepted into the B.Des/M.Des programmes at various NID campuses is the NID DAT 2023 cut off. The DAT cut off is usually given separately at each level of the NID 2023 selection process. The NID DAT 2023 deadline for the B.Des and M.Des programmes has been made public by the National Institute of Design. The cut-off for each participating institute's programme would be made available category-by-category. The NID cutoff is the minimal score applicants must meet to be taken into consideration for a design course. There are B. Des and M. Des courses available at the NIDs participating institutes.

The first design school to be designated as a "Institution of National Importance" by an Act passed by the Indian Parliament is the National Institute of Design (NID). NID was founded in 1961 and was formerly known as the National Institute of Industrial Design. Known for providing design courses in specialisations like Industrial, Communication, Textile, and IT Integrated (Experiential) Design, NID is an autonomous institute under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. NID DAT and NIFT stand out as the two most sought-after and challenging design entrance exams in the country, attracting aspiring designers nationwide. The NID Entrance Exam is considered among the toughest design entrance exam conducted in the country. In NID DAT, more weightage is given to subjective, drawing related questions. 

Experts and test takers state that the overall difficulty level of the NID DAT 2022 exam was moderately difficult.As per NID DAT 2021 exam analysis, the level of difficulty of the question paper for the BDes course was easy to moderate. There was a small change in the NID exam pattern this year with respect to the marking distribution.

In the Objective section, a majority of questions are asked on subjects such as Logical Reasoning, English, General Knowledge, and Current Affairs which have a medium difficulty level.

The National Institute of Design (NID) does not provide a specific syllabus for either the DAT Prelims or DAT Mains exams. Instead, the institute offers sample question papers for the B.Des and M.Des programs, enabling candidates to familiarize themselves with the question types, covered topics, and weightage. Utilizing previous years' NID DAT question papers serves as an additional resource for preparation. The initial phase of the NID DAT 2024 exam is DAT Prelims, encompassing color terminology, principles of composition, design theory, lettering, optical illusion, picture analysis, theme development, and more for both B.Des and M.Des programs. Successful candidates in DAT Prelims proceed to the DAT Mains exam. For B.Des, this stage involves a Studio Test, while M.Des applicants undergo both a Studio Test and a Personal Interview, the latter being conducted online, in contrast to the offline mode of the Studio Test for both programs.
