No, It is not stressful to prepare NIFT along with CBSE 12th board papers. Give priority to 12th CBSE exams. The level of NIFT exam is not too tough and can be qualified very easily.

This entrance examination is meant for displaying your creative skills only. NIFT believes in colors so they will judge you more on your colors and harmony other than drawing skills, so you should be creative in your coloring also.

NIFT offers various courses at UG/ PG / Ph.D. level. In addition to these courses NIFT also some courses through its continuing education programme. These courses are available in the stream of fashion, technology, design, management. These courses are offered through 17 campuses and courses avillabity vary from campus to campus.  The eligibility criteria is given below for BDes in Knitwear Design from NIFT is given below

 Eligibility : The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognised Central/ State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education / State Board New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi. Admission : Admissions are based on NIFT Entrance Exam I. e. Creative Ability Test CAT and General Ability Test (GAT), followed by a situation test to be undertaken by shortlisted candidates of the written examination.

If you are capable of self-study then you can do it yourself. Alternatively, if you cannot then you have to join coaching classes of preparation for NIFT/NID.
Arihant is a good book for preparation.
