It's an NIT, so you'll find people almost from every state of India there. There's so much diversity and the GT system there would help you out keeping in touch with the people of your area.

Yes there are high chances of getting IT, in case if not CSE, in NIT K at this score.

it is difficult to get cse in dtu if u r general
however NIT surathkal comes under top 5 nits
so if u wait for 3-4 round in dtu or nit counselling u may probably get cse.
nd if u belong to any sc/st category than there is chance of getting cse in 1-2 round in dtu
