NIT Surathkal BTech admissions are offered on an entrance basis. The institute accepts only those who clear the admission criteria given below:

Eligibility - Class 12 with Physics, Mathematics as mandatory subjects + Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational Subjects/ Biology as one of the subjects + a minimum of 75% aggregate (65% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates)

Selection Process - JEE Mains + JoSAA/ CSAB

Students have to submit some documents for NIT Surathkal admissions and applications. Thhe list is as below:

  • Admission order issued by Competent Authority.
  • Original marks card of qualifying examinations (First to Final Year).
  • Bachelor's Degree Certificate/Provisional Pass Certificate issued by the University
  • Course completion certification from the college (if qualifying degree exam result are awaited)
  • Original Score Card of valid CAT or MAT or CMAT.
  • Date of Birth Certificate
  • Certificate by employer ascertaining the duration of work experience.

NIT Surathkal selection criteria is entrance-based mainly. The selection process for the programmes is as below:

  • BTech - JEE Mains + JoSAA Counselling/ CSAB
  • MTech - GATE + CCMT
  • MSc - IIT JAM + CCMN
  • MBA - CAT/ MAT/ CMAT + GDPI

NIT Surathkal eligibility has to be met for students to get admission in the institute. The common eligibility is different depending on the course level and category. The common eligibility is as below:

  • NIT Surathkal UG eligibility - Class 12 with relevant subjects from a recognised board
  • NIT Surathkal PG eligibility - UG degree in a relevant field from a recognised university
  • NIT Surathkal PhD eligibility - PG degree from a recognised university

Note: This is the minimum eligibility only. Selection criteria is entrance-based.

No, students can't get admission in NIT Surathkal without JEE scores. However, this is true for BTech admissions only. For the other courses, as long as students have valid scores of the accepted exams, such as GATE/ CAT/ IIT JAM, they are eligible.

Yes, NIT Surathkal admissions are open. Interested students can apply online for MBA admissions. The forms have to be submitted before the last day of application/ admissions. To know more, students can check the official site.

According to the NIT Surathkal cutoff 2026, the round 1 cutoff ranged from 1605 to 24609 for the General AI category. Students who want admission in the first round have to attain a rank of at least 24609 if they belong to the General AI quota. 

For the General HS quota, the same round cutoff varied from 3184 to 30911. Please keep in mind that other categories, quotas, and rounds will have different cutoffs.

Yes, you can use the same OBC-NCL certificate for both NIT Andhra Pradesh and NIT Karnataka, but only under certain terms. The certificate must be issued by a competent authority after the first of April of the admission year, clearly stating your non-creamy layer status and conforming to the central government OBC format. More importantly, your eligibility for the home state quota depends on the state where you completed your Class Twelve. For instance, if you passed from Andhra Pradesh, you qualify for home state quota only at NIT Andhra Pradesh, and not NIT Karnataka. In that case, you would fall under the other state quota for NIT

It is unlikely to get Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at NIT Trichy or NIT Surathkal with a 94.54 percentile in JEE Main Jan 2025, especially under the ST category. While 94.54 percentile is a good score, top NITs like Trichy and Surathkal have very high cutoffs for CSE, typically requiring percentiles above 99.5, even for reserved categories.
