Both IITs and NITs are quite good at generating excellent engineers,  but the best IIT colleges have an advantage due to their high standards of academics. IITians are among the leading creators of the top startups in America, according to study done in the US. IITs consider JEE Advanced ranks while NITs consider JEE Mains rank for their admission process. So IIT is tougher than NIT.
