Hello Saneya, Its very heartening to see such a clear headed girl. Normally setting up goal is big issue. But you have overcome this obstacle by dreaming of doing Ph.D. in your fav subject. You must take admission in a local college that has Zoology as a major subject in B.Sc. Rest all will automatically fall in place. One most imp thing. Study for learning and not for higher marks. This only will help you in your life. Best wishes.

There is no problem with the gap provided you did something productive and relevant during this time. You must frame your SOP accordingly. Which country depends on your choice. Decide your research interests and start searching universities worldwide offering Ph.D. in your area. Contact the research heads. Inquire about scholarship, stipend, research work etc. Its Ph.D. admissions are not like other regular programs. You have to network with department and academic heads. Once you find a suitable option apply.

You can opt for astrophysics. Also, the course is offered in very limited colleges. Try to find out the best. IISC campus is an option where you can get opportunities to know more about astronomy.

Hello Simran,
It's indeed very heartening to see that you have already set a goal for yourself. Half the battle is won. But, normally, for admission to Ph.D, the basic eligibility is to have PG in this subject. Of course, there are some institutions which give admission to integrated PG+Ph.D course. TIFR is one such. But you need to find out if it is offering subject of your choice.

Hello Shreyoshi, The fees are quite reasonable in TIFR. From what I could gather, fees are to the tune of Rs.6K only. I am attaching a link that will give you all the required information. http://www.tifr.res.in/~sbp/new2015/FAQ.htm.
