The type of PTE exam that is accepted for the Canada visa is the PTE Core exam. The exam is accepted for all sorts of visa applications including the ones leading to permanent residency and citizenship. The PTE Core exam results remain valid for two years and accepted by IRCC for visa applications in Canada.

The PTE exam that is accepted for the Australian PR is the PTE Academic exam. The PTE Academic exam is highly accepted for university admissions and all types of visa applications in Australia and New Zealand, including those for the permanent residency (PR).

Neither the PTE exam nor the IELTS exam is relatively harder than the other. The level of difficulty for a given exam is perceived differently by test takers as per their level of preparation and proficiency in the language. Students comfortable with an online setup can opt to take the PTE exam as it is completely computer-based and needs little to no human intervention. The PTE exam in India is conducted at Pearson authorised test centres only. Currently there are 62 PTE test centres in India, each of which can accommodate 10-15 test takers in a single setting. These test centres are also equipped with safety features such as wheelchair access, emergency medical kits and more.

As per the PTE official website, a PTE 79 score falls in the 'Very Good' category of scores and is equivalent to an 8.0 in the IELTS overall band score.

An average PTE score is neither too high nor low in the PTE score calculator. As mentioned earlier, every university would have a required PTE score, and candidates are expected to achieve the same or a higher value to be eligible for admission to the university. Candidates are advised to aim for a higher-than-average PTE score as this will not only increase their chances of admission to the university but also make them a frontrunner for any scholarships the university may provide.

The cut-off marks for the PTE exam are not defined by the Pearson PLC Group (the conducting body of the exam). However, universities abroad define the minimum PTE scores required to get admitted to their pretigious courses. Most Universities require a PTE score 59 to shortlist student applications. Thus, students must aim to receive at least 59 marks on thir PTE exam.
