Design is everywhere around us, from the shoes we wear, the computers we use, to the office buildings we walk by each day. Because of that, our brain was trained to make decisions (specifically in terms of the items we buy) based more on looks, than on efficiency or safety issues. So, since this course requires more of creativity and Maths is not mandatory for design courses in most of the courses. There are many universities that are offering this course. My brother is currently pursuing this course from Lovely Professional University and I must say LPU has it all for a complete learning of this course. LPU is the only university which offers 3d printing and Laser cutting techniques for the students. Internships start from 9th semester. LPU provides a learning experience with a promise to introduce innovation. Here, an experienced team of professionals guide their students in experimental designing and production. Faculty members highly encourage their students to do the experiment by implementing their creative ideas using different materials for creating conceptual wear and accessories. Students can also explore in the field of interior furniture designing and industrial product designing. Biotechnology course is all about using concepts of Biology for tweaking and modifying biological systems, cell structures, biological processes etc so that they can be used in Engineering and Technology related applications to improve and enrich various sectors such as healthcare, Food processing, Agriculture, pharmaceuticals etc and solve problems arising in these sectors.
Biotechnology is a rapidly developing field. Many private businesses are exploring this field and heavily investing in it. It is safe to say that there are ample job opportunities for B.E./B.Tech. Biotechnology Graduates in private sector. Government sector too offers job opportunities, but not in the scale in which private sector does. Average starting salary is generally between 2.5 to 5 Lakh Rupees per year.
Some prominent industries where Biotechnology professionals may find jobs are- Pharmaceuticals Industry, Healthcare sector, Chemical Industry, Agriculture sector, Food Processing and Technology as well as Research sector. Graduates may also take up teaching job (as lecturer) after completing M.E./M.Tech. program.
