No, the Amherst College is not known to offer a merit-based scholarship of any kind. The institute only offers need-based scholarships, from its early beginnings in the 18th century.

Yes, Albert II, the reigning prince of Monaco since 2005, is known to be part of the college's alumni network.
The second child & only son of Prince Rainier III & Princess Grace, Albert was born at the Prince's Palace of Monaco in 1958 & pursued a degree in political science at Amherst College after attending the Lycee Albert Premier.

The Amherst life is known to be “vibrant”, with something there for everyone. The campus houses a diverse student population, that is known to be welcoming to students from all backgrounds.
The campus offers over 100 student organizations, accommodation facilities that hosts about 97 percent of the college student population & guaranteed housing for four years.
Dining halls, health centres, student events, dedicated athletic facilities are some other parts of the Amherst campus.

Amherst & UMass are part of the best institutes in Amherst, Massachusetts.
As far as rankings are concerned, University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a rank of #41 comfortably beats Amherst College (#245) as per Shiksha country-level rankings.
Acceptance rate wise too, UMass with an acceptance rate of 58%, is relatively much easier to secure admissions at, with Amherst College only having an acceptance rate in the range of 9-10%, as per unofficial sources.
