Generally, Columbia asks for one short answer of about 50 characters, one essay of 500 words, and two short essays of 250 words each. There is also one optional essay. The short answer and the 500-word essay inquire about your goals. The other essays are focused on your past experiences and your reasons for applying to Columbia Business School. Also, these requirements may change for successive academic sessions. Hence, always look for the exact prompts that you need to answer on the official website of the university.

Columbia Business School is among the top business schools, across the globe, and therefore, your essays should match the standard of the institution. Include your real-life experiences in the Columbia University MBA essay, rather than giving generic information. Highlight your leadership potential by stating instances where you led a cause. Talk about the challenges you came across, how you dealt with them, the decisions you made, their outcomes, and how they turned you into a better leader.
