Study Abroad

Students wishing to pursue MSc courses at BCU are required to meet certain admission requirements. From eligibility requirements to meeting the minimum GPA criteria. Mentioned below are the MSc admission requirements for international students: 

• A 2:2 honours degree or its equivalent from a recognised university in any subject, typically with at least 50 to 55% aggregate scores. 

• For some specialised MSc programs (such as Finance or Computer Science), degrees related to the specific field may be required.

• If students do not meet direct entry qualifications, they may be offered an 18-month MSc programme or a Pre-Master's pathway.

• English language proficiency with a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall and no less than 5.5 in each band  (or equivalent tests like PTE).

• Additional application requirements may include official transcripts, letters of recommendation, a personal statement, and a CV/resume.

• Some courses may require an interview or submission of a research proposal before admission.

International students are required to have at least a GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale to study at Birmingham City University, which translates to a minimum of 55% in bachelor's degree. Although BCU might consider students with a lower GPA if they have good profile with English language proficiency. It is offered in some cases where students demonstrate academic rigor.

• International Students with GPA below 2.75 can still apply for extended postgraduate programs or pre-master's, depending on course and various other qualifications.

• English proficiency and other academic criteria must be met.

• Some courses may have higher academic requirements or require a portfolio or research proposal.
