Yes IELTS is required for English taught programs in Germany-

•     Minimum IELTS score: 6.0–6.5 for most private universities; 6.5–7.0 for public universities

•     Alternatives accepted: TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo English Test (varies by university)

•     IELTS is required at the COUNTRY level for your visa process, not just by the university

•     If your medium of instruction in college was English, some universities may waive the IELTS requirement (medium of instruction certificate)

Good news for most Indian students:

•     Most German universities — both public and private — do NOT require GRE or GMAT for their master's programs.

•     Some business schools and MBA programs at private universities may ask for GMAT, but it is not universal.

•     For technical programs (MS in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science): GRE is generally not required.

Exception: A few internationally top-ranked programs or universities with strong US partnerships may recommend GRE/GMAT, but it rarely serves as a hard requirement.

Yes, the University at Buffalo is ranked by the US News and World Report globally and nationally. As per the same, the University of Buffalo ranks at #369 globally in 2025.

And as per the National rankings for the University of Buffalo, this university ranks at #75 in 2026 which is an improvement of 1 place from the year 2025.

This is nuanced area for Indian students as mentioned below-

•     For Public Universities: A 3-year bachelor's degree (e.g., BSc, BCom, BA) may NOT be sufficient unless you have 240 ECTS credits. Germany generally requires the equivalent of a 4-year degree.

•     For Private Universities: Many private German universities accept 3-year bachelor's degrees, especially for master's programs.

•     Workaround: If you have a 3-year bachelor's degree, you can supplement it with a 1-year postgraduate Diploma or pursue bridging coursework.

•     Public University (budget) - INR 9L – INR 13L per year (living- INR 8L – INR 10L + semester fee INR 25K– INR 40K)

•     Required amount- €11,904 per year (approx. INR 10.5–11 Lacs at current exchange rates)
