The number of students getting placements in TNNLU is relatively low,30 percent of students are placed every year.

Students are getting placed in reputed Tier-1 firms such as Trilegal, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Lakshmi Kumaran & Sridharan, etc. Alumni of the TNNLU are working as professors, judicial clerks, advocates of the Supreme Court as well as High Courts, and legal officers in banks and many students opt for higher education from Indian and foreign institutes. The university has a specific Internship and Placement Cell that works for providing a wide of opportunities to students. 

The University has not released the placement report or brochure. However, the average package and the lowest package offered during recent placements were INR 4.20 LPA and INR 2.40 LPA, respectively. TNNLU is the new entry in the list of NLUs. TNNLU was established in the year 2012. The courses offered by the university are BA- LLB (Hons), BCom- LLB (Hons), and LLM & PhD in the field of law.

• The admission to BA- LLB (Hons), BCom- LLB (Hons) & LLM will be done through the CLAT exam
• An admission test is conducted by the university to fill seats in the PhD programme
• The total number of seats available for UG programmes is 120
• The total seat intake of the PG programme is 18
• 50% of the seats will be reserved for the residents of Tamil Nadu
