The hostels in VIT Chennai are up-to-date with excellent infrastructure and tasty food. There is 24/7 Wi-Fi with 100gb data limit provided to each student. Students are allowed to select rooms with their friends upon similar academic backgrounds. There is both AC and Non AC ranging from 2 B.Ed 3bed, 4bed and 6bedded rooms. The mess charges for this academic year are as follows
Veg Mess - Rs. 70000
Non Veg Mess - Rs. 78000
Special Mess - Rs. 84000
For a 3 bedded non AC room they charge around Rs. 50000
For AC 3 bedded - Rs. 85000
On an average for non AC including mess it sums up to around - 1.1 Lacs to 1.4 Lacs per year
For AC it averages to around 1.5 to 1.9 Lacs per year.

VIT Scholarships:
VIT Ignite Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to students who have secured the first rank in their respective state or central board examinations. Give School Development Programme (GVSDP) Scholarship: Under this scheme, students from government schools are eligible for scholarships based on their performance in the VITEEE entrance examination. VIT-Chancellor's Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to students who have secured within the top 1000 ranks in the VITEEE entrance examination. VIT Merit Scholarships: Merit-based scholarships are awarded to students based on their academic performance in qualifying examinations. VIT Sports Scholarships: Scholarships are provided to exceptional sports persons who have represented their state or country in recognised sports events. Government Scholarships:
Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students: This scholarship is provided by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, to financially support meritorious students from low-income families. National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC) Scholarships: Scholarships are available for students with disabilities, as per the guidelines and eligibility criteria set by NHFDC. Other State Government Scholarships: VIT Chennai accepts various state government scholarships, and eligible students can avail themselves of the respective schemes. Other Scholarships:
Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Scholarship: This scholarship is available for students belonging to scheduled castes (SC) and scheduled tribes (ST) categories in Tamil Nadu, subject to the eligibility criteria defined by the state government. Minority Scholarships: VIT Chennai accepts minority scholarships such as Maulana Azad National Scholarship, National Fellowship, and others, as per the guidelines set by the respective authorities. Educational Loans: VIT Chennai facilitates educational loans through tie-ups with banks, making it easier for students to finance their education.

When compared to other private institutions, VIT Chennai boasts off its quality in teaching and infrastructure. To attain a seat in this college, one must take up the VITEEE entrance exam that is conducted every year under specific shifts. The paper demands in-depth knowledge of class12 Physics Chemistry Mathematics with a few questions related to aptitude and English . It is mandatory for any aspirant to give this exam to secure a seat, since there is no other means or ways one can get in, by either donation or brokers. VIT ensure a smooth and pure merit based entry for its applicants. Every year almost 2 Lacs student appear for the exam, out of which students are needed to come under 30-40k rank to secure a decent course with normal fee in VIT Chennai campus. Fee is decided based on the exam rank of the student and is classified to categories. Difficulty of the entrance exam can be rated medium. (tougher than 12th and easier than JEE)
with no negative markings. After ranks are released, eligible students are called for councelling in respective centers where students are taken based on ranks and number of students appearing.

Compared to the cut off at a percentile of about 37 you have scored more than 54 which is really phenomenal. But I am afraid that you are ranking at about 13000 in your category may not fetch you admission in the top NITs. However, there is a great possibility of you getting the seat in one of the newly opened institutions and I would advise you to go for this admission since after 4 years you will definitely get placed if you complete your education from these institutes. The cut-off marks for admission to the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) vary every year and are dependent on various factors such as the number of candidates applying, difficulty level of the exam, and availability of seats. However, based on your JEE Main score of 165 and your OBC-NCL category, it may be difficult for you to get admission in the NITs of Surathkal, Trichy or Warangal as the cut-off for these institutes is generally higher.
