As per my opinion, if you want to try for private universities, except VIT vellore there are other great options available like GGSIPU, Delhi or Pune universty colleges and various others in Pune where you will get good environment, good exposure and good study culture, good campus placements too. So, dont go for either of them neither NITs of low level nor VIT because, although I am not much aware but campus placements might not be as you expect from a government engineering college and after all culture around you matters the most, which you will get in metro-cities like Delhi or Pune. You can get admission on the basis of JEE Mains marks or on the basis of state engineering colleges entrance examination or through management quota.

SSN College 30% of its seats will be under Management quota. SSN won't take donations for this seats. Instead they admit students based on merit. The procedure for getting seat through management quota is as follows:
*Buy application from SSN Trust office in Mylapore, Chennai.
*Fill the form and send to the same address.
They will select based on your 12th Cutoff. If u got selected they will call for counselling, then
