The eligibility criteria for TANCET counselling varies depending on the course and college you are applying to. Yes there is a priority difference. GATE candidates are exempted from answering TANCET. They are preferred first, seats priority will be given to them first. For all NOT GATE qualified students, entry into ME is based on TANCET exam conducted by Anna University.

All government engineering colleges consider admission only through TANCET counseling for the candidates who also fulfill the eligibility criteria. Candidates must obtain valid scores in TANCET/MAT followed by GD and PI for M. B.A. Admissions at Periyar University Salem.

Anna University compiles the TANCET result by evaluating actual score and percentile score. Actual score is calculated using the TANCET marking scheme. While the percentile score is calculated by evaluating the number of test takers using a specified formula. TANCET marks directly indicate the individual performance of the test takers in the exam, while the TANCET percentile score indicate the relative performance of the test taker in comparison to other test takers.
